Extensometers
MTS offers the world's most comprehensive and highest-performing selection of extensometers for a very wide array of material testing applications.
Axial Extensometers Suitable for static and dynamic applications, these tension- and fatigue-rated extensometers mount easily to flat and round specimens and are robust enough to leave attached through most specimen failures. Standard units feature temperature compensation to minimize span shift, and meet or exceed requirements for calibration according to ASTM E83 Class B1 and ISO 9513 Class 0.5 standards. High temperature models can be deployed at up to 2200°F (1200°C). Clip-on Displacement Gages MTS clip-on gages are used to perform ASTM standard fracture mechanics tests for KIC, JIC, crack growth and R-curve determination. High-temperature models are available for measuring crack opening displacement in high-temperature environments without external cooling. LX Laser Extensometer Series Use highly accurate, non-contact LX Laser Extensometers to test fragile specimens, those susceptible to localized damage, and also specimens that release large amounts of stored energy during breaks.
